OUR MISSION
OUR MISSION
We believe in helping each individual reach his or her own personal best. Because everyone has varied needs, each lesson is adapted to best suit each student’s physical needs and aptitude. Confidence is built with our instructors through consistency and sensitivity. We also emphasize communication as a cornerstone to educating the students and parents of the relevance of swim drills and course methodology. Discipline and listening skills are also reinforced and rewarded to optimize the learning experience.
The Gift of Swimming
Aquatic Explorations provides the highest quality lessons for the individual needs of each student from beginners to competitors. We see swimming not only as an essential life saving skill, but as a lifetime gift that allows for new aquatic experiences. Swimming is more than a safety skill or linear sport. A strong swimming ability nurtures ones confidence, health and opens opportunities to enjoy other aquatic explorations such as:
Surfing
Water polo
Snorkeling
Scuba
Life guarding
Triathlons
Spear fishing
Water parks
Sailing
White water rafting
...etc
Standards of Progress
We view each individual's progress as their own and recognize their greatest achievement is reaching their personal best. Because of this we don't set any arbitrary levels of progress. What we see in each swimmer is universal foundations that every swimmer of any ability adheres to. These qualities apply to infants as well as elite athletes. The three basic foundations of swimming are breathing, balance and buoyancy.
Beyond this we teach the principles of the efficiencies of speed: increasing propulsion and decreasing drag. Within each lesson, drill and individual moment we seek out the betterment of these skills while knowing that this is an organic process not defined by vague guidelines but physical principles that are in constant fluctuation which we recognize are best strengthened with physical discipline, comprehension and emotional motivation.
Special Needs
Jason Castner, the owner and founder of Aquatic Explorations, has vast experience in working with special needs students. For the past 25 years Jason has placed extra emphasis on helping those with special needs. Through patience, compassion, flexibility and experience we are committed to giving back to the community that has supported us. Ask us how we may assist you if you have a child with special needs.
